Brian Peacock (1935-2004) was a well-known painter and teacher, born in London, noted especially for his coastal scenes, interiors and figure subjects. He was born in London and studied at the Royal College of Art, 1957-60 where received a Silver Medal 1960 and the Prix de Rome, 1960-61. He lectured at Ravensbourne and Hornsey 1961-62, at Manchester College of Art 1962-67, and was principal lecturer in charge of painting at Sheffield Polytechnic from 1967 and he lived in that city for some years. He showed his work in mixed exhibitions including Royal Academy (in 1970), John Moores Liverpool Exhibition, Young Contemporaries, and in Arts Council touring exhibitions. Peacock had several solo shows with the Piccadilly Gallery in London from 1962 and at the Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield in 1978. Later in life he lived and worked in the Charente region of France. His work is held in the Government Art Collection, the collection of the Royal College of Art,  Nuffield Foundation and Contemporary Art Society, The Box Plymouth, Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery, University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, Walker Art Gallery Liverpool, Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery.
