John Bond (born 1945, Cromer, Norfolk) is a well-known painter of landscapes and coastal scenes in oil, gouache and watercolour. He studied at Norwich School of Art and then at the Central School of Art in London. In 1965 he became designer for a book publisher in Guildford and it was there at the Chaucer Studio Gallery that he had his first solo show in 1974. In 1973 he had begun to paint small works of the Norfolk coast based on his memories of his time living in the county. In addition to his views of his native East Anglia, John Bond has also painted extensively in France and the West Indies. His work is mainly exhibited in solo shows including two shows at the Marjorie Parr / Gilbert Parr Gallery in Chelsea, at The Upstairs Gallery at the Royal Academy in April 1984 when forty two of his paintings were shown, at the Westcliffe Gallery in Sheringham, Norfolk and at the Century Galleries from 1978 on. The artist returned to live in Norfolk.
