John Reginald Biggs (1909-1988) was a well-known painter in watercolour, a wood engraver, and typographer. He was born in Derby and studied at Derby School of Art 1929-31, and then at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London 1931-34. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1931 (a wood engraving ‘Roadmen’) and again there in 1946 at which time he had removed from Derby to Wimbledon. He also showed his work with the Royal Cambrian Academy and abroad. Later in life he lived in Brighton.
