Sir Timothy Calvert Eden, Bart (1893-1963) was a painter mainly in oils of figure subjects, landscape and still life. He born in Auckland, Durham to the well-known Eden family and succeeded to the baronetage of Auckland and Maryland in 1915 on the death of his father, who was an amateur artist. Sir Timothy served later in World War 1 as a 2nd Lt in the 1st (Reserve) Garrison Battalion, Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. He married in 1923, a lady who was to become Head Mistress of a Private School. They lived in London before World War II and by 1950 they resided in Albert Hall Mansions in London SW7. Sir Timothy concentrated on his art and he also wrote several books including a History of the County of Durham and The Tribulations of a Baronet which was published in 1933. He died in the New Forest, Hampshire at the age of 70 years. His younger sibling Anthony Eden was to become Prime Minister in the mid 1950s and subsequently ennobled as The Earl of Avon.
