Gerald Judah Ososki, RBA, ARCA (Lond) (1903-1981) was a well-known painter in oil and watercolour of landscapes, figure subjects and portraits. He was born in London and studied art at St. Martin's School of Art 1917-22 and then under Sir William Rothenstein at the Royal College of Art. Ososki exhibited extensively at the Royal Academy from 1931 to 1973, at the New English Art Club from 1927 to 1961, and with the Royal Society of British Artists to which group he was elected a member in 1957. His work is represented in the collections of The Ben Uri; Birkbeck, University of London; and by several examples with Braintree District Museum. He found his subjects in London and in Buckinghamshire and North Wales, and from about 1956 increasingly in Italy, especially at Lake Garda, Gulf of Spezia, Tuscany, and the Amalfi Coast The artist lived in Hampstead, north London, for many years.
