Geoffrey Elliott (born 1935), is a well-known painter and printmaker.  He was born in Derbyshire and studied at Derby College of Art and then at Brighton College of Art, where he gained his art teachers’ diploma.  He became a lecturer at Wolverhampton College of Art and after National Service then for several years lectured at Brighton College of Art (1959-61 and again 1964-75).  In 1970 he won an Italian Government Travelling Scholarship.  His early prints were generally lithographs and by the end of the 1960s screen printing became his preferred technique.  He exhibited his work at the Royal Academy from 1960, at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and many other leading galleries.  Geoffrey Elliott travelled and worked extensively, including in Greece, Italy, Malta, Spain, the United States, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and in 1983 emigrated to Queensland, Australia where he continues to work as an artist.  His work is held in a number of public collections including the Tate Gallery, Birmingham Art Gallery and the British Council collection.
