John Wragg, RA, FRBS (1937-2020) was a well-known sculptor and painter. He was born in York and studied at York School of Art 1953-56 and at the Royal College of Art in London 1956-60. He had one-man shows at a number of leading galleries, including the Hanover Gallery in London (1963, 1966 & 1970) and later at England & Co (1994). John Wragg exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1980, and was elected ARA in 1983, RA in 1991, and Senior RA in 2013. He was also a member of the Royal Society of British Sculptors being elected in 1996. His work is held in a number of public collections including Tate Gallery, the Arts Council Collection, National Galleries of Scotland, Portsmouth Museums and the Ulster Museum. He lived in Devises, Wiltshire, for many years.
