Meriel L. Campbell (1912-1982) was a well-known Irish born painter of landscapes, coastal scenes, figure subjects and still life. She studied at the Royal Hibernian Academy Schools in Dublin and later at the Slade School in London. Meriel Campbell exhibited at the Royal Hibernian Academy in the 1950s, at the Royal Academy in 1966 and 1967 and regularly with the Society of Women Artists, of which she was a full member, from 1959 until her death in the early 1980s. She painted widely including in Morocco, Italy, France, Brazil, and in south-east England. Mrs Campbell lived for some years in Northwood, Middlesex, and then in Chandlers Cross in Hertfordshire.
