Alice Rebecca Kendall, PSWA, RGI, UA (1922-2011) was a painter, printmaker, author and illustrator. She was born in New York City, daughter of Professor James P. Kendall and the artist Alice Kendall, RGI, UA (1896-1955). She studied at Edinburgh College of Art 1939-43 and exhibited at the Royal Academy (firstly in 1944), the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists, the New English Art Club, the Royal Glasgow Institute (1945-50), and the Society of Women Artists from 1949-1993, where she was elected a member in 1957 and President 1977-1982. Alice Kendall wrote and illustrated the book ‘Funny Fishes’ published in 1946. She lived in Edinburgh and later in west London, and had a strong affinity with the island of Cyprus. She died in London in May 2011 at the age of 88 years.
