Chris Plowman (1952-2009) was a well-known printmaker and sculptor. He was born in Fareham, Hampshire and studied art at the Winchester School of Art 1969-70, at Wolverhampton Polytechnic 1970-73, and at the Royal College of Art 1973-76 where he gained his MA in Printmaking. He exhibited etchings, lithographs and monoprints at the Royal Academy from 1984 and in 1987 he won the Henry Moore Foundation Prize for Sculpture at The London Group open exhibition. A number of his prints are held in public collections, including the Tate Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the British Council, and the New York Public Library. He was a lecturer at Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art in the 1980s and 1990s.
