Stanley Cornwell Lewis (1905-2009) was a Cardiff born painter, teacher and museum curator. He studied at Newport College of Art 1923–26, at the Royal College of Art in London 1926–30, and then taught at Newport College during the 1930s. After service in World War II he became principal of Carmarthen School of Art from 1946, and after twenty two years service he retired and with his wife founded the Pram and Toy Museum at Beckington, Somerset. He showed for many years with Gwent Art Society, the South Wales Group, and elsewhere and shared a three-man show with Ayrton and Plazzotta at Bruton Gallery in Somerset. His work is held in Newport Museum & Art Gallery, in Carmarthen Museum, in Carmarthen Town Hall, and in the Fleet Air Arm Museum. The artist had a show, War Images at Newport Art Gallery in 2003, which work related to his experiences during World War II.
