Description: The present work is an original wood engraving, signed by the artist lower right in the plate (i.e. not a unique hand signature). It is housed in what appears to be a hand carved wooden frame of the 1920s / 30s period, which does show signs of some wear and tear over the years. This work is a proof of a design for an advertisement for the National Institute for the Blind published in 1939. It is understood that this wood-engraving came from Gill's own files. The opus number is Physick 991. The engraving appears to be in very good original condition, housed within a hand cut grey coloured mount.

Size: About 5.7 x 2.3 inches plate size (14.5 x 6.0 cm) and about 24.0 x 11.2 inches framed size (61 x 28.5 cm)
