Title: 'Berbers and a Camel in the Desert'
Description: We have an extensive collection of work by this artist who spent the majority of his working life in France. The paintings will appear on this site over a period of time and also on our sister website Nick Waters Art. The present work is in watercolour, with some pencil and bodycolour, and depicts a scene in the Algerian Desert (part of the Sahara) with indigenous people and their camel. The work is likely to date to the mid 1960s as it seems unlikely that the artist would have ventured there until after the war in Algeria had ended in 1962. The watercolour is signed by the artist lower right. It has good strong colour and appears never to have been framed. There is a very small crease to one corner and some light creasing to the top edge, which would be covered if subsequently framed. Otherwise it is in very good order.
Size: About 14.3 x 10.1 inches paper size; unframed
