Sir Francis Ferdinand Maurice Cook, Bt. (1907- 1978) was a well-known painter in oil, tempera, pastel, of portraits, land¬scapes, still life, animals, children, religious and allegorical subjects. He was born in London and studied art under Harold Speed 1926-32, J. Arnesby Brown 1932-34 and S. J. Lamorna Birch 1935-36. He exhibited at the RA, RBA, ROI, LG, NEAC and in the provinces. Elected ARBA in 1938 and was also member of St. Ives Society of Artists Cornwall 1938 and of Jersey Society of Artists 1949. His work is represented in several public collections. Sir Francis succeeded to the title in 1939 and lived on Jersey for many years.
