Leslie Maurice Leopold Brangwyn (1896-1970) was best known as a printmaker in wood engraving and etching and he was also a painter of landscapes and portraits. He was born in Chelsea, south-west London and studied art at the Goldsmiths College under Stanley Anderson.  Brangwyn exhibited etchings and wood engravings at the Royal Academy between 1940 and 1962, and his subjects were found often in London, Buckinghamshire, East Anglia, Kent, Lincolnshire and Sussex.  He exhibited landscape watercolours art the New English Art Club show in summer 1949 and showed also at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1949 and 1954, the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1950, and the Royal Glasgow Institute 1948-50. He lived in Lewisham and later in Orpington, Kent.
