Noel Brannan (1921-2001) was a painter and art teacher, born in Tynemouth, Northumberland on Christmas Day 1921 to the artist Edward Eaton Brannan (1886-1957). The Brannan family moved to Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire in 1926 and Noel Brannan studied at Lincoln School of Art (1947-51) and at Leicester College of Art (1951-52). His younger brother Peter Brannan RBA also became a well- known artist. Noel Brannan was one of the artists selected for inclusion by Jack Beddington in his 1957 book ‘Young Artists of Promise’. Although Brannan taught art for some 28 years he exhibited his work extensively and became a member of the Artists’ International Association and exhibited with the New English Art Club. He painted industrial landscapes, often in Warwickshire and the East Midlands. Three of his paintings are held in the collection of Nuneaton Museum and Art Gallery.
