Robin Wallace, RBA (1897-1952) was a well-known painter of landscapes and still life subjects in oil and water-colour.  Born at Kendal in the Lake District he studied at the Byam Shaw and Vicat Cole School of Art.  Robin Wallace exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1922, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters, and with the Lake Artists' Society.  He was a full member of the Royal Society of British Artists. Wallace delighted in painting his home county of Westmorland. He lived in west London for many years from the 1920s and during the war also had a home near Ross-on-Wye in Herefordshire. A retrospective exhibition was held at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal, Cumbria, in February and March 1976. Many of the works on show were lent by the artist’s widow and their daughter Elizabeth.
