Rupert Godfrey Lee, LG (1887-1959) was a well-known sculptor, painter and printmaker. He was born in Mumbai in India and studied art in London at the Royal Academy Schools and the Slade School. In 1920 he was elected a member of the London Group and also was a member of the Friday Club. He was President of the London Group 1926-36 and was the Chairman of the First International Surrealist Exhibition 1936. Lee lectured for a time at Westminster School of Art. Lived at Storrington in Sussex and at San Roque in Spain.
