Title: 'Storm in the Campagnia'

Description: A framed original painting in mixed media on paper, signed by the artist lower right and dated there (19)71, and titled in full lower left.  We are not certain of the spelling used in 1971 but we think this scene will represent the Campania region of southern Italy, the centre of which is the city of Naples.  The work is in very good condition and we have had a new mount and frame made for it, including the fitting of anti-reflective glazing (Artglass AR70). The provenance of this painting is the personal collection of Dr Chalmers Burns, M.A., who retired as Head of Music at Newcastle University in 1971 and this work gifted on his retirement is by his colleague Andrew Maclaren who lectured on Art at the university from 1965, later becoming Head of Art there. It has the old label from 1971 on the reverse. Dr Burns died in 1993.
