Title: A European Lake Scene

Description: An original oil painting on board, signed by the artist lower left 'R Russell'. Although not dated it is likely to be from the 1950s or the 1960s. We think the view may be Alpine hence the subject may possibly be say French, Swiss, Austrian or Italian. We were in touch with the artist in the 1970s and after he died there was a disposal of his work, some of which we acquired. This painting may have been in that estate disposal but we cannot be certain. The framing is by Summers Gallery of Wimbledon and judging by the '01' London telephone dialling code the frame could be from the mid 1980s. We have had the painting cleaned professionally. The frame is typical of its period and has some signs of wear and tear but is serviceable.
