Title: 'Interior with Chair and Plant'

Description: A framed original painting in gouache on paper laid to card, signed by the artist 'Jacob' at lower left and inscribed inside by him 'with best wishes - Merry X-mas - with love Jacob and Pippa' (she was Bornfriend's wife). This work was one of several greetings cards from the artist and his wife to the Slovakian born architect, Eugene Rosenberg (1907-1990) who fled to the UK from the Nazis in 1939 (we have other cards from the same source).  Although undated it is most likely to be circa 1963/65. The work is in good condition for its age though there is a horizontal crease to the paper (within the image) about one inch below the top of the paper.  The crease isn't noticeable when viewed from a distance but can be seen under close inspection. The provenance of this work is the estate of the late Eugene Rosenberg. We have had the work mounted and framed to a good standard including with anti-reflective glazing (ARTGLASS AR 70). 

Size: About 6.0 x 3.7 inches (about 15.3 x 9.5 cm) painted image size; and framed size 11.5 x 8.8 inches framed size (about 29 x 22.5 cm)
