Title: Woman and Child by the Sea

Description: An unframed original drawing in ink, signed by the artist 'Hayman' lower right, of what we believe to be a Cornish subject with a woman and child, a ship at sea and a steam train. The provenance is the estate of the artist's friend Elspeth Spottiswood (1926-2016), herself an artist too, who lived latterly in Hampshire. This drawing appears to be quite a lot earlier in date than the other two we acquired from the same source and we think it is probably circa the 1960s. 

It is in reasonable condition for its age save for a scratch to the surface of the paper (running diagonally up from the sail on the boat, please see image 3), and some light creasing to the paper. It may also had faded a little but has been in storage for many years and was probably never framed. The paper is a little warmer in tone than appears in the images. We have other works by this artist and the provenance is guaranteed.
