Description: An original mixed media work in inks, pastel/crayon and watercolour on paper. The work is signed lower centre and dates to the early 1960s when the artist was living in Goring, West Sussex. It is in good condition and benefits from new glazing and backboard so is ready to hang. From the artist's estate.
The Resurrection, along with the 14 Stations of the Cross were commissioned by Fr Edward Fooks who then became great friends with Guy. It was for a new Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Thomas More in Patcham 1960-1961. The ceramic tiles which the drawings were used for, were embedded in the concrete but apparently were removed and mounted on wood in the 1980s.
