Description: This is a ‘stage proof’ etching with aquatint, pencil signed by the artist lower right and dated 1985. It is on T H Saunders watermarked paper and has deckle edges with full margins. There are some foxing marks mainly to the margins, and a small mark at the right hand margin, as pictured, which will not show once the work has been mounted and framed. This etching was published in a small edition of 35 prints and is quite scarce.
The provenance of this work is the estate of the former Morley College (London) tutor and master printmaker, the late Richard Michell, who in latter years had his home and studio in Dorking, Surrey. He worked on the printing of works by a number of artists including David Hockney OM, CH, RA and Michael Sandle RA.
