Artist: Guy Malet
Title: 'The Garden of 19 Lansdowne Crescent, Leamington Spa'
Description: An original watercolour signed with the artist's estate stamp lower right. The artworks were handled by Guy Malet's artistic executor, Albert Garrett. A studio sale was organised some years after Malet's passing and I believe many of the paintings were acquired by Abbott & Holder, well-known London art dealers. This work has their original label verso. As the title given on the label is very specific I imagine that there was an artist's inscription to the reverse of the watercolour. Guy Malet married Dorothy Coxon in 1943 and they spent some of the war years living in Leamington Spa, before returning to Kensington. The condition of both the painting and the frame is very good. Other works by Guy Malet will appear on the website soon.
